Bespoke Computer Desk

This desk was made for a customer with very specific work needs. He spends a lot of time on zoom calls, as well as researching from books and journals, and writing, both by hand and on the computer.

After visiting his home office in south Devon we made a record of the exact angle of the wall, and cut a cardboard template of the curve along the front of the desk.

He visited the workshop a couple of times to see progress, and made slight tweaks to the design to make sure everything was exactly right.

The front edge was hand worked - I believe a hand-crafted edge is much more tactile and pleasing to the touch than a machined edge.

We made a shelf to fit a laptop and notebook. A notch out of the corner allows computer cables to pass through.

We also made a couple of corner shelves from the same beautiful local ash as the desk. These were fitted using floating shelf fixings. When some polyfilla was applied the fixings were invisible.

Commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture, tailored to your needs is so much more satisfying, and brings so much more joy in daily use than buying a ready-made, off the shelf, mass-produced item. Contact me if you would like to Commission a piece.
