Ash Slab Table with Flared Cherry Legs
In a world where everything seems to be more and more “artificial”, here’s an unmistakeably “real” table. Made, by human hand, with ash sourced from the Sharpham Estate, just up the road in 2017. This is one of the "sidings" - the first slab cut from a log. I kept it for 6 years before finally cleaning it up and tenoning some chunky cherry legs on it.
This is a heavy piece! A wonderful presence in a room, with its dramatically flared wild cherry legs, again, from just up the road. Through-wedged mortice and tenon joints. The travished top gives a wonderful texture, and catches the light beautifully.
A simple cherry "butterfly" let into the top to prevent the split from travelling further into the piece. A proper statement piece!
Dimensions:
Width 110cm
Depth 56cm
Height 44cm
